Marcassite Cockerel's Crest - Dannes Quarry, Cap Blanc Nez, Normandie, FRANCE

Very pretty Marcassite from the Dannes quarry in Normandy. Old piece late 1980's. Label 25 on the mineral is an internal reference, please disregard it. The quality and brilliance of this piece for more than 40 years makes it a safe specimen in a showcase. Indeed, many Marcassites, like any altered sulphide, release the sulphur present and degrade the surrounding minerals. Nothing to fear here !
