Indicolite tourmaline - Santa Rosa mine, Itambacuri, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Rare blue tourmaline (copper-bearing) possessing some touches of green color, from a recent discovery at the Santa Rosa mine in Brazil (November 2020). According to our research, similar pieces known date from the 1960s-70s. _x000D_ The brilliance and color are great! The surfaces are vertically striated, revealing a general fibrous structure, and sometimes show different stages of growth horizontally. The endings are atypical because they are not smooth. They are indeed composed of a multitude of small acicular crystals of tourmaline not always perfectly terminated._x000D_ The most of this piece: the presence of small white crystals (perhaps wardite) in association at the base.
