Zunyite on hematite - Qalat-e Balat, Hormozgan, Persia/Iran
Rare crystals of zunyite on hematite gangue. The piece contains no less than 15 brown crystals of all sizes, very bright, the two largest measuring 1.2 in edge. Crystals with damage are not counted. Specimens on matrix and in particular with several crystals are rarer than isolated crystals because these crystals generally do not hold in place on the hematite gangue, which is obviously the great interest of this piece. A crack is visible in the middle of the piece, but it is not through; the gangue is well cohesive. These Iranian zunyites were discovered in 2018 and have the particularity of being plurimillimetric, even centimetric, which is large for the species.
13 x 9 x 4 cm.
