Pyrite and hematite - Valle Giove mine, Rio Marina, Elba island, Tuscany, Italy
Superb group of dodecahedral crystals of very bright pyrite, intact, on a matrix of lamellar hematite.This unique piece, the result of a relatively recent discovery (2013), was donated to finance the rehabilitation of the mining park on the island of Elba. The park is now open to visitors, but it is forbidden to take samples, except on guided tours.
