JAMESONITE and REALGAR - Baia Sprie, Maramures, Romania
This specimen combines the Realgar and the Jamesonite from the famous mine of Baia Sprie in Romania. The piece is distinguished by the exceptional quality of its réalgar in an intense carmine red with ruby highlights. Unlike the usual facies, it is expressed here in highly crystallized areas with smooth faces, offering a vitreous to adamantin luster particularly bright under light. This carpet of colored sulfides is based on a healthy and dense matrix of steel-gray jamesonite, whose finely fibrous texture creates a perfect geometric contrast. A showcase piece with a magnificent color saturation, derived from a great European classic that is now unobtainable.
