ERYTHRITE and SKUTTERUDITE - Bou Azzer, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate, Morocco
This specimen combines Erythrite and Skutterudite from the mythical mining district of Bou Azzer in Tazenakht, near Ouarzazate in Morocco, the absolute world reference for this cobalt paragenesis. The piece is characterized by a central cavity entirely lined with acicular crystals of erythrite with a vitreous and silky sheen. They display a fuchsia pink to particularly intense and bright purple color. This geode crystallization emerges from a massive primary matrix of metallic gray skutterudite, which gives this small cabinet piece a remarkable density of 215 grams. The striking contrast between the dark gangue and the bright fuchsia heart makes it a highly aesthetic showcase sample and essential for any collector of systematics.
