CARROLLITE and CALCITE - Kamoya South II Mine, Kamoya, Kambove, Haut-Katanga, DR Congo
This specimen shows a Carrollite crystal ideally positioned at the top of a white calcite matrix, coming from the famous Kamoya South II mine in the district of Kambove, Haut-Katanga, DR Congo. The Carrollite crystal, perfectly individualized, is distinguished by its cubo-octahedral habitus with very sharp edges and smooth faces offering a silvery metallic glare. It is based on a crystallized group of white rhombohedral calcite, the main face of which is enhanced by small areas of disseminated sulfides. The marked contrast between the purity of calcite and the metallic brilliance of carrollite makes this piece a miniature showcase very balanced and with great geometric finesse.
