HEMIMORPHITE - Mfouati Mine, Bouenza, Congo
This specimen honors the crystallized hemimorphite from the famous mine of Mfouati, in the department of Bouenza in the Republic of Congo. The coin features a beautiful pocket lined with a hemimorphite in a soft sky blue to turquoise blue. Crystallization develops into globular and botryoidal aggregates formed by a multitude of fine interlocked lamellae, offering a glassy to particularly scintillating lustre. This azure heart is elegantly surrounded by its original brown and alveolate limonite gangue, creating a perfect contrast of hues and textures. A very aesthetic piece, of a superb volume and highly representative of this great classic of African mineralogy now become rare.
