CARROLLITE and CHALCOPYRITE on CALCITE - Kamoya South II Mine, Kamoya, Kambove, Haut-Katanga, DR Congo
This specimen combines Carrollite and Chalcopyrite on a well-crystallized white calcite matrix, coming directly from the famous Kamoya South II mine in Haut-Katanga, Democratic Republic of Congo. The piece highlights two distinct carrollite crystals, ideally positioned on either side of the matrix for perfect observation. The main crystal has silvery faces with intense metallic luster, while the second interacts with small plating of chalcopyrite with blue, purple and gold iridescence. The calcite matrix, healthy and textured by clear rhombohedral cleavage planes, offers an ideal color contrast that highlights the brightness of the sulfides. An aesthetic and highly representative sample of this world-class deposit.
