BARYTE - Barega Mine, Iglesias, Sardinia, Italy
This specimen showcases the crystallized barytine directly from the famous and historic mine of Barega in Italy. The piece is illustrated by a remarkable three-dimensional entanglement of large lamellar crystals with particularly sharp geometric edges. It reveals a superb color gradient: the summit crystals display an elegant honey yellow to highly translucent amber hue, while the heart of the room evolves into smoky gray-blue shades. The crevices are delicately highlighted by natural oxide patinas, accentuating the relief of the blades. A heavy and very aesthetic cabinet piece, from a great classic of European mineralogy now permanently closed.
