STIBNITE and CALCITE - Herja Mine, Baia Mare, Maramures, Romania
Cabinet piece of an exceptional aesthetic and historical level. Discover this remarkable specimen of Stibine associated with Calcite, coming from the mythical mine of Herja in Baia Mare in Romania. The piece is structured into a real three-dimensional bush composed of a multitude of long needle-like crystals of stibnite. Perfectly individualized and slender, they feature a steel-gray metallic sheen with an intense specular shine. The top of this metallic architecture is delicately topped by small crystals of white calcite, offering a striking textured contrast evoking a thin layer of snow. A great classic of Eastern European mineralogy, voluminous and spectacular, coming from a world-renowned locality and now definitively closed.
